The David Letterman Learning Experience (DLLE) is a student-led, interdisciplinary creative project within the Emerging Media Design and Development graduate program that combines storytelling, technology, and art to give students project-based, hands-on experience. This year, the DLLE students have the unique opportunity to work closely with students from the Department of Media, students from the Marilyn K. Glick Center, and David Letterman to educate the Ball State community about the art of glass blowing and the creation of glass art. The DLLE students were tasked with building immersive experiences to engage community members, as well as to pique interest in the work students are creating in three departments.
To help the Department of Media students draw more attention to their work, DLLE students developed a transmedia storytelling campaign. Transmedia storytelling helps the team tell a story across multiple platforms, and its purpose in this project is to increase viewership and community interaction. In the transmedia campaign, DLLE students have built this website, a virtual reality tour, a scavenger hunt, and a social media campaign.
Take a tour through Ball State’s Glick Center for Glass with virtual reality, while learning about the history of glass blowing and the opportunities the Glick Center provides students.
The art scavenger hunt transforms Ball State’s campus into an interactive art gallery that tells the fascinating stories behind the glass art of our fellow Cardinals.
Social media is an integral part to the transmedia campaign for the David Letterman Learning experience. It is used to engage with and promote all of our projects and build interest in DLLE, both on and off campus.
